Mindfulness is exploding in popularity throughout the world. From corporate business to athletic performance, the idea of presence is a welcomed addition to our distracted contemporary culture. Nonetheless, the ancient teachings of the Buddha expound that mindfulness encompasses much more than just the act of being present.
In Program 2 we dive into the ancient teachings of mindfulness (sati), gaining intellectual and experiential understanding into what mindfulness actually is and why it is vital for our our mental and physical well-being.
Over the 8-weeks of this program we will work with the following practices:
Primary Practice:
Tranquility (samatha)
Secondary Practices:
Walking (cankama)
Loving-Kindness (metta)
Engaging with new and challenging variations to our samatha practice and the new practice of walking meditation (cankama), practitioners will build upon their efforts from Program 1, systematically developing the mind and rewiring the brain, replacing inefficient neural networks of distraction with new neural patterns of mindful presence.
